1.
Three spirits came to me And drew me apart To where the olive boughs Lay stripped upon the ground: Pale carnage beneath bright mist. The stars have never shone as bright as they have this year
2.
The skies drape down like moss on trees falling fast, move so swift, onto us Some bring eternal day, radiant gardens, sunrays illuminate secrets hidden in dark, no visages nor refuge from blazing light, I see harmony, disunity; self as all Yet some are so blinding that I can’t see what all is heading towards, or feel the heat of the world on my back, blistering, searing, I am marked (and we all are marked) So where were you when the gardens burned? When fair days of heat turned to scullery fires? When all secrets came out grasping onto self? When all began to expel us? Do you ever take the time to breathe everything in? Do you ever feel the rot deep in your lungs? (Something we wanted — some drive — to destroy ourselves) My vision of us: grasping at the ends, corpses in the flowers, letting go
3.
Rising from bottom to top, top to bottom Signs of rot, signs of sin Signs of sun, signs of water In the air, in your lungs We have seen centuries that contain years, and years that contain centuries, ground of the Enets became Norilsk and Lenapehoking became a steel hell We have failed time and time again and always lapse into efforts to avoid the punishment Finally it comes, though, we felt it would as a stirring in the sky and as a breaking of ice — I have heard that stirring, as you have, I have heard the crumbling brick from across the earth, I have heard cries of the indigenous silenced only to come manifest as fire Bodies have begun to fall in front of you, voices from the cold that warned of their own demise, you silenced their song, you ignored their cries, the blood is on our hands Extinction events wrought by consumptive greed come to claim us — and we cry for change now, no weeping at corpses of cows or the sight of Inuit starving, but only for the Earth killing those that kill it I have heard that stirring, as you have, I have heard the crumbling brick from across the earth, I have heard cries of the indigenous silenced only to come manifest as fire

I want no constraints, no limit to self, no filtered, safe reality, no denial of all things raw, no dilution of individuality, I want nothing We are collectives, I am alienated, hardly able to focus my breath, lost in being everything at once; I am the reality of a planet dead We live on as the destruction, as the ashes, as wounds It was never about hope, nor was it about prevention Selfishly I live as myself, away from conceptions of outsideness with desire armed, but with no emancipation (and delirious in a winter heat, I am looking, I am looking, I am straining) Visions I have had have fragmented into something darker, nearer, already here — corpses still lay in flowers, we still grasp at ends, palms opening to reveal nothing Yet with a certain stillness, my own lifelessness, everything has finally arrived But I can’t Watch as this Crumbles, thinking Only of me But I can’t (Beyond boundaries) Watch as this (Beyond borders) Crumbles, thinking(Beyond self) Only of me (I always can) But I can’t (Beyond boundaries) Watch as this (Beyond borders) Crumbles, thinking (Beyond self) Only of me (I always have)
5.
I know that I will go like everything ever has, I’m aware of my fleeting nature in times so dire, I feel myself slipping away, through cracks in the soft dirt, and for once it’s calm outside (Summer survives, winters die) And for once I feel renewal, I feel the shame slipping away from me; in flourishing leaves and water in flourishing leaves and water I hear calls — remain still, remain idle, feel the water against your face, plant yourself in the rushing river that flows once more, all settles, life remains Even if without us Even if without us Without us, it comes again Without us, it comes again As we disintegrate — You feel a rebirth, the undying will of life prevails, the gardens grow once more, an effervescent glow on barren landscapes (and you feel yourself fall —) And for once, God is not dead and his hands hold me, so they hold nothing, and he holds himself
